Satire in a Cartoon

       Satire in this cartoon is making pun at child labor. In this cartoon the little boy is dreaming of playing with the soccer balls rather than making them. In the dream bubble it also shows the little boy and his soccer team beating the white children. This is satire because it’s not politically correct and went a little to far in showing how things are made in China. This I think goes a little to far because it could be very offending to the people of this race.  

Satire in Clothing

Glee… or shall I say Pleese stop that awful singing. This is an example of satire because it is making fun of, or satirizing, the television show Glee. In the show Glee the actors do many remakes of songs and make songs of their own and act them out. In a way Glee is like a musical on television. Many of the singers are not to bad but a lot of them could use some work. This is satire because it is making fun of the singing in glee.

Satire in Music

Satire is everywhere, even in music. The example I found of satire is in some of the videos on youtube.com, for example the songs by “Weird Al” Yankovic. This song in particualar is making fun of the song “Ridin’ Dirty”. The new song title by “Weird Al” Yankovic is called “White and Nerdy”. This is an example of satire because it saterizes on the image, or images, white people have…being “White and Nerdy” and how we are nerds.  Not only does it saterize white people but I also saterizes African American people by saying that they are gangsters and cool.

Satire in Television

      Satire can be found in many things, including television intros. One of the famous shows, The Simpson’s, displays a lot of satire. In this particular intro, more towards the end displays the Simpson family playing many other show for way back in the day. It starts off with the Simpson family playing The Honeymooners where they are in the kitchen. This is satire because they are showing all the people how silly old television was. The next part of the clip shows the intro to Dick Van Dyke. This shows Homer Simpson Falling over the ataman, making fun of the real show where the character really does trip over the furniture. The third clip shows a scene from the Brady Bunch. This correlates to satire because its making fun of Marsha and how she hurt her nose in the actual series. The last clip of the Simpson’s shows them all at the bar in the television series Cheers, where a character soon comes out from the door and sets the Simpson’s running. When they run off the stage they are finally in their own television show. This is satire because the Simpson family is poking fun at all the older television series.

Satire in Books

In his novel, "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain, he uses satire to show the struggles in today’s society. The story opens with Huck sneak away from his home to play with Tom Sawyer and his friends. While hanging out with his friends they decide to start a gang and to kidnap people.  Not only would they kidnap the people but they would also hold them for ransom. They soon find that they cannot ransom anyone because they do not know what holding for ransom means. Huck’s friend Tom has an idea to the meaning of the word, but maybe if we keep them till they're ransomed, it means that we keep them till they're dead. All of the boys agree this is the meaning of the word.  In this part of the novel, Mark Twain uses satire to show that even though something is wrong, if civilization or society accepts it to be true, then it is believed to be true.
